Seeds of Future Springs
My family likes to say that every fall season contains the remnants of past falls, and every spring contains the seeds of future springs. The pieces in this collection are connected in my mind to that idea, and to the seasonal processes of remembering, documenting, forgetting, and trying again.
For the pieces that are labeled as “digital photographic composites,” I created paintings with both traditional materials (oil paint, gouache, pastel) and other experimental materials (cooking oil, newsprint, drywall joint compound, window light). I photographed these ephemeral works and digitally collaged the layers to create the finished images.
Many of these works are on display at Mulberry Coffeehouse in Downtown Hamilton now through May 31, 2026.
